Where to begin? I guess it’s best to start around the time I decided to retire from the world of fashion. In 2019, I married my best friend and I moved to London, UK to continue my journey to become a well known fashion photographer. Believe it or not, North Carolina doesn’t have many opportunities for someone who wanted to shoot for the “Big Brands.” During my time in England, I found success. Or at least I found what I thought I wanted. People knew who I was, magazines and brands were contacting me wanting me to create work for them, and my bank account was pretty sweet. That’s not a brag, but it was the truth. However, during my search for this “success,” I started to feel like I was losing who I was as a man. I wasn’t being very nice to my wife and I wasn’t acting how my incredible parents raised me to act.

One late evening when I walked through our front door from a long day on set, my wife called me into the living room. There, standing in front of the couch, my wife was holding a positive pregnancy test. I was over the moon! We had been trying for a while to get pregnant. Once I saw that test, it was like a switch was flipped in my mind. A new vision of success was presented to me. I knew I couldn’t be the best husband and father I could be while still living the way I was living. I decided right then that I would start to transition from fashion to “fine art.” I knew exactly what I wanted to capture as my subject. The American west ( yes, I know Avedon already claimed that title .) Growing up, all I wanted to be was a cowboy, and I never really lost that want. That’s how I knew what I wanted the subject of my art to be.

So here I am. Almost two years after making that transition. Preparing for my family to move to the US, traveling to ranches around America, and creating my art. Not as many people know who I am, not that many magazines contact me, and my bank account isn’t as sweet. But I have to say, I have never been happier.
